In essential beliefs – we have unity. (Ephesians 4:4‑6)
In non-essentials – we have liberty. (Romans 14:1,4,12,22)
In all our beliefs – we show love. (1 Corinthians 13:2)
THE WORD OF GOD
We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
(Psalm 119; Joshua 1:8; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16‑17; James 1:22‑25)
We believe that there is one living and true God eternally existing in three co-equal Persons, whose work is distinct and harmonious.
(Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7; Matthew 3:16‑17, 28:19; 1 Corinthians 12:4‑6; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
GOD THE FATHER
We believe in the infinite, personal, spiritual God who is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayers, and that He saves from the penalty and power of sin.
(Genesis 1‑2; Job 37:6‑13; Daniel 4:34‑35; John 3:16‑17; Acts 4:24; Ephesians 1:3‑4; Galatians 4:4)
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Father’s only begotten Son, and in His absolute deity. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, was buried, was bodily resurrected, and ascended into heaven where He intercedes for His people and will personally and visibly return to earth.
(Matthew 1:18,20; Luke 1:35; Mark 16:1‑6; Acts 1:9; Hebrews 1:3; 4:15; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15, 7:25‑26; Revelation 19:11‑16)
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who was sent by the Father to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment; and to indwell, regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. He is an abiding teacher, advocate, and guide.
(John: 14:16‑17; John 16:5‑15; Ephesians 1:13; Titus 3:5; 1 Corinthians 2:14)
We believe that all men are sinners by nature and by conduct, and are, therefore, under condemnation. We believe that the Holy Spirit regenerates those who admit their sin and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior.
(Ephesians 2:4‑5; Colossians 2:13; 1 John 5:18; Galatians 5:22‑23; 1 John 5:1, 4:7, 5:3‑4)
We believe in the UNIVERSAL CHURCH, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members. We believe that God has laid upon the Church the primary task of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the lost world.
We believe that the LOCAL CHURCH, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, is associated for worship, work and fellowship.
(Deuteronomy 4:10; Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 5:25; 1:22‑23; 2 Timothy 2:19; Romans 16:5; 1 Corinthians 16:19; Acts 9:31; Matthew 28:18‑20; Acts 1:8; Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 1:12; 5:16‑19; 4:12‑13)
We believe that every Christian should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ, which will bring glory to God and well-being to his fellow man.
(John 13:34; Luke 6:35‑36; Colossians 1:28; Ephesians 4:14‑16; Romans 12:1‑2; 1 Peter 1:13‑16; 2 Peter 1:5‑8)
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has given two ordinances to the local church: Baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
- We believe that Christian Baptism is the testimony to the world best exemplified by immersion of a believer and identifying with the Lord in His death, burial and resurrection.
- We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted to commemorate His death and indwelling presence.
We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until His return.
(Exodus 12; Matthew 26:17‑39; 1 Corinthians 11:23‑26; Matthew 3:13‑17; 28:18‑20; Mark 1:9‑11; Luke 3:21‑22; John 1:31‑34; Romans 6:3‑4; Colossians 2:12; Acts 2:41, 8:12)
We believe that every human being has direct relations with God, and is responsible to God alone in all matters faith; that each church is independent and must be free from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority; and that therefore, Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions, each fulfilling its duties free from direction or patronage of the other.
(John 18:36; Matthew 22:21; 2 Corinthians 10:3‑4; Romans 13:1‑7; Joshua 24:14‑15)
We believe that local churches can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ by cooperating with one another.
(John 13:34; Ephesians 5:27, 4:13)
We believe Christian marriage is a sacred institution ordained by GOD for the happiness of mankind and the propagation of the race. It is a spiritual and physical union into which one man and one woman enter for the glory of GOD according to the scriptural ideal.
(Genesis 2:18, 24; Matthew 19:3‑9; Romans 7:2; Ephesians 5;22‑33)
THE LAST THINGS
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return to Earth and establish His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal fellowship of the righteous with God, and the everlasting separation of the unrighteous from God.
(John 14:3; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Hebrews 9:28; Matthew 24:41‑46, 25:31‑46; Romans 2:5‑7; Ecclesiastes 12:14; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Mark 13:32‑33; Revelation 19:11‑16, 20:11‑15; Isaiah 65:17, 66:22; 2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:2‑3, 22:1‑2)
The above has been provided in order that there would be no question as to the basic doctrinal position of EPIC Ministries in Mexico. However, we also recognize that the range of denominational beliefs varies greatly in the Mexican churches we equip, the churches which we as ministers might visit, or the churches that support us in our calling.
